Well I went out and bought the latest BlueRay DVD Combo Pack edition in the Predator Franchise, hoping to be WOWED, AMAZED, but I wasn’t. Don’t get me wrong it was a good movie, just wasn’t a great movie. Thomas Jane was probably the best part of it, weird and funny to see him in that role. The first half of the movie was flowing good, but the last half seemed more like a Steven Spielberg film. And it’s funny that Shane Black would actually compare the music score to a Spielberg film ” Black also said that the film would mark a return to the “intimate” scale of the original film and that the film-makers hoped to achieve “the same sense of wonderment and newness that Close Encounters had when that came out. ”
The best movie in the Franchise is still the original with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Carl Weathers, with Adrien Brody and Danny Trejo ‘s Predator coming in a close second. Some would disagree I’m sure, but they would be wrong.
Overall I still enjoy the Franchise but I have to say that, like Underworld and Resident Evil, it gets worse instead of better. Like they hit on a popular money making venture and they just try to milk as much out of it as they can for as long as they can, depending more on CGI and special effects than actual good story telling.
